Here's the fat on The Fat City Blues Band

The Fat City Blues Band has appeared across Southern California, with BB King's, The Lake Alice Trading Co., The Abilene Rose, La Vida Hot Springs Restaurant, Havasu Landing Resort, Whiskey Creek and The Road House to name a few of the more popular venues

The Band's recent release,Cool Shooz, has been receiving radio play on the Blues Beat radio show in South Australia and on Blues Deluxe from Arlington, Texas. Cool Shooz was the featured cd of the week of Nov. 23, on Blue Country, also in Australia, airing five tracks from the cd.

Blues Access magazine stated, "It's a nice dose of that Southern California blues with harp, guitar, bass, keys and drums in a laid-back session that is right in the groove. These guys are having fun and it shows, from the cover art to the backing vocals of the Hot House Tomatoes."   

Fat City has opened shows for The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers and has performed with blues singers, Finis Tasby and Drew Terry.

    Lead Guitar and Vocals are handled by Joe Ferraro. The founder of Fat City and a cofounder of The High Desert Blues Society, Joe has been performing in Southern California clubs since the early seventies. Present influences include Hollywood Fats, Duke Robillard, Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan.

    Mo' Grundy provides his skills with Harmonica and Vocals. Founder of The Sum Fun Band, Mo' has opened shows for Linda Ronstadt, Taj Mahal and Maria Muldaur. Mo' has also performed  with Bob Weir, Joe Liggin's Honey Drippers and The Beat Farmers.

    Bass Guitar duty is handled by Jay Buchanan. Also a original member of the High Desert Blues Society, Jay brings a extensive amount of club experience to the group..

    Roger Gillespie does the drumming for the group. Roger has more than twenty years of experience as a session player in recording and television. Roger has worked with Paul Williams, The Smother Brothers and the original Coasters.
